President/Founder

Candice Halbert is a Chemist at a National Laboratory, with a BS in chemistry from Illinois State University, and a MS in chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology. In Candice’s work setting as a STEM professional, she is often the only woman in the room, and even more often the only person of color. To change this, she founded YO-STEM, with the motto "Changing the face of STEM" in mind. Candice is a mother of a teenage son, and enjoys traveling, and hanging out with family and friends.

Program Director

Dana Schumpert is a native of West Tennessee but has resided in Knoxville, TN for the past two years. By trade she is an advanced certified pharmacy technician and has worked in several different pharmacy settings and management roles in the last eight years of her career. In her spare time time, Dana enjoys reading, cooking and baking, and spending time with her husband, Glenn, and daughters, Averii and Ellyson.
